There are a lot of perks to getting married: a lifetime of happiness; a posh slap up meal; and, of course, a nice watch from your betrothed. Obviously, there are more, but they’re the most important ones, right? My nice watch came in the shape of an Emporio Armani Ceramica AR1421. Now I’m not usually one for showing off. I do like nice things, but clothes and wearable things are just functional to me, so this being the real first piece of designer kit I owned – and my first impressions were great.
A Week on the Wrist – Emporio Armani Ceramica AR1421
Everything looked the part: the presentation box, the case and the watch itself. Made from black ceramic with stainless steel hands and inlays, it’s very much a designer dress watch. It’s a chronograph watch so has three sub-dials for timing (or showing off, depending on how you look at it) and it also features a date window. It came with a full set of instructions, a certificate of authenticity and a few spare links – all of which you’d expect from a designer brand. The luminous components light up pretty well, making it easy to use in very low light conditions.
It certainly looks the part, but where I felt it let itself down slightly is the actual build quality. Yes, it’s sturdy and chunky looking but the clasp at the back and the pins connecting it to the body feel a little wobbly. The chronograph buttons on the side do give a distinctive click, but they can feel a bit stiff at times.
What’s good about the Emporio Armani Ceramica AR1421
- Well known designer brand.
- Looks the part and more expensive than it is.
- Decently luminosity so easy to use at night.
What’s not so good about the Emporio Armani Ceramica AR1421
- Wobbly pins connecting the strap to the body
- Stiff buttons to operate the chronograph
- Build quality is lacking overall.
Overall, the Emporio Armani Ceramica a great entry level designer watch that certainly looks the part but leaves a little bit to be desired.
