It wasn’t even on our radar but funded on Kickstarter in less than three hours, so we thought we’d better cover the S&BTM Atlantis A2!

First Impressions: the S&BTM Atlantis A2

The American watch company, S&BTM Watches, has launched their newest watch model, the Atlantis A2. The newest collection of watches from S&BTM Watches is an upgraded version of their flagship Atlantis watch line, which first appeared back in 2012. Not only has every aspect of the watch been upgraded, they have chosen to price their Kickstarter campaign very aggressively: these are American built dive watches for less than $300 (£235)!

The Kickstarter campaign for the Atlantis A2 is off to an impressive start, hitting its funding goal within the first three hours and almost at the stretch goal that unlocks three new Rolex-inspired watch variations: Hulk Green, Pepsi GMT and Batman GMT.

We’re pretty impressed with what you get for your money. We skipped over the ultra-low priced quartz models to the ceramic-bezel automatic models which feature the Swiss Sellita SW200 movement. That is a seriously good movement usually found in watches at twice the price, and which will be reliable, accurate and easy to service int he future.

The dial is textured with an attractive wave design and truncated triangle markers that remind us of Omega’s Seamaster. From the side, it’s a different story, with the Atlantis A2 having a chunky profile that reminds us of Seiko’s better efforts with what appears to be screwed in bars for the bracelet. This thing will be tough to break! The only thing we’re not quite convinced by is the brand name, which is a tad tricky to remember, but overall we think this watch looks like a sound buy for the money.
