WOTY2021

Once again we had a tough year – albeit not quite so bad as 2020. Still, it was as tough as ever to pick WRUK Watch of the Year 2021.

WRUK Watch of the Year 2020

We’ve picked out our favourite three watches that were reviewed in 2021. In reverse order, they are…

3. Mitch Mason Maelstrom

The Mitch Mason Maelstrom may seem at first glance to share the DNA of many other compressor dive watches, but dig a little deeper and there are so many great little touches that it adds up to more than the sum of its parts.

There is still some stock of the Mitch Mason Maelstrom MBW special edition that we reviewed – head over to the Microbrand Watches Facebook group for more information. If you want the standard edition then the place to go is the Mitch Mason Watches website.

2. Marloe Solent Windward

We’ve been admiring Marloe watches from afar for some time, so it was great to finally get our hands on one in the metal. It did not disappoint, with a stunning design, superb specifications and a price tag that made us question just how other brands justify their pricing policies.

1. WT Author No. 1953

First place and our award for Watch of the year 2021 goes to the WT Author No. 1953. It’s entirely bespoke and British-built, which we believe justifies its asking price. There’s nothing else quite like it on the market, and the fact it comes from a tiny brand adds to the appeal. We hope the new WT Author 1973 model is just as good: hopefully, we’ll get our hands on one in 2021.
