Nordgreen

Nordgreen is a new Danish designer watch brand based in Copenhagen. They have recently launched their fashion watches in the UK after a successful Kickstarter project.

Introducing Nordgreen watches

Nordgreen raised $250k in their 30-day Kickstarter campaign, which put them at Number 3 in the Top 10 most successful Scandinavian Kickstarter Fashion projects on the crowdfunding platform. During the campaign, they sold 2000 watches to 1,417 customers. Their range of fashion watches is designed by Jakob Wagner, a renowned Danish designer that has designed for such brands as Bang & Olufsen, Cappellini and Moroso. The range features men’s and women’s styles and the watches have easily interchangeable straps, so buyers can adapt the watch to suit their outfit, mood or personality. They are powered by a basic Japanese quartz movement.

First Impressions

We don’t shy away from fashion brands at WRUK and we are happy to consider quartz watches where our colleagues elsewhere will not. Nordgreen is another brand that takes the successful Daniel Wellington template of a minimalist dress watch with interchangeable bands and produced a basic quartz watch that will appeal to the non-collector.

The differentiating factor with these watches, and what persuaded us to cover them, is their Corporate Social Responsibility policy. Nordgreen wanted to incorporate Danish ethical values into the brand, giving rise to their Giving Back Programme. For each watch sold Nordgreen ask the customer to choose one of three causes:

  • 2 months of clean water to a child in Central Africa
  • 2 months of education to a child in India
  • Preserve 200 square ft of rainforest in Latin America.

The serial number on the back of each watch allows the brandto track the impact that each donation has made.
