Introducing Nation of Souls watches

Nation of Souls

Another day brings another Kickstarter watch. This one caught our eye thanks to the stunning guilloche pattern on the dial of one of the models. Can Nation of Souls find a place in the crowded marketplace for slim quartz dress watches?

Introducing Nation of Souls watches

Nation of Souls is the brainchild of professional piano restorer Mark Sellers. He’s not the first person to come up with the idea of marketing a slimline, quartz dress watch – and not even the first one to bring it to Kickstarter, but his designs offer something different from the standard “Daniel Wellington” template.

They’re Swiss quartz watches, made of 316L steel with anti-glare sapphire crystals, so Nation of Souls have not scrimped on the specifications. There are plenty of dial colours to choose from, and you can have plain steel or gold-plated cases along with a steel bracelet or a choice of straps. A 2-year warranty is offered, not that much can go wrong with a battery-powered watch.

There is a choice of two models: Argo and Eclipse. Eclipse it the one that caught our eyes with bold dial colours embossed with a stunning guilloche pattern and a seconds sub-dial that should minimise the annoyance of the quartz “tick” if you prefer a smooth sweep to your seconds hand.

As usual, a discount on RRP is offered for backing the watches early on Kickstarter. The Argo can be picked up for £99 and the Eclipse for £129 if you get in quickly. These are sound price points for Swiss quartz watches – and you get an extra strap and wooden box thrown in with your pledge, and worldwide shipping is free. The campaign is about halfway through and about half-funded, so we wish Nation of Souls the best of luck in bringing their project to reality.
