Newmark 71

Every now and again we see a watch and fall in love – the Newmark 71 falls right into that category. It’s a vintage style diver watch from the company that brought us the 6BB Chronograph which we reviewed last year.

Coming to Kickstarter – Newmark 71

The new model from Newmark is based on another old Newmark design, and we think this one ticks all the boxes. It reminds us of one of our watch of the year for 2018 – the Emperor Diver – with its 38.5mm size (topped with a 39.5mm bezel), triangular markings and beads of rice bracelet.

The Newmark has an even more vintage vibe than the Emperor, we reckon, and it comes with either a silver, blue or black dial. There is a choice between a diver’s bezel or a 12-hour bezel (allowing you to track two time zones). Our pick would be the black dial with 12-hour bezel (it would have been the blue if we didn’t own the blue Emperor already) which should match any outfit and has the most versatility in the real world. We are particularly pleased that Newmark has added a date at 6 O’clock, making it much more practical.

Newmark 71 Specifications

The looks may be vintage but the specifications are bang up to date: a modern high beat movement (the superb Miyota 9015), screw down crown, a double-domed sapphire crystal, a ball-bearing bezel with lumed sapphire insert and that lovely looking and doubtless silky smooth bracelet. If it wears as well as the Emperor diver (and from its dimensions it should be very similar) then we have a real contender on our hands.

Buy a Newmark 71

The Kickstarter campaign for preordering the Newmark 71 opens on June 18th but in the meantime you can find out more and sign up to be notified when the campaign launches at

Prices will start at £299 for early birds – the final retail price will be £399 if you do not want to back the watch on Kickstarter. You can also still pick up the white dialled Newmark HS chronograph at if you need a Newmark fix sooner – the 6BB is long since sold old.
