PaceMasters Paddock Chrono

This month has seen an explosion of new microbrand watches. One of the most striking models we have seen is the Pacemasters Paddock Chrono. Inspired by Formula 1 motor racing, this distinctive watch is launching soon. We really like the look of this one, so we asked Evgenii from PaceMasters to tell us more.

Coming Soon – PaceMasters Paddock Chrono

Formula 1 motor racing came to Russia in 2014, at a track built on the site of the Sochi Olympic Park. Bringing the motor racing circus to the country was along-time dream of Russian motorsport fans, such as 31-year old Evgenii Cherdantsev from Moscow, who is the man behind the PaceMasters brand. Together with a small team of motorsport enthusiasts – a professional watchmaker from New York, a car designer from Berlin and a racing lover from Istanbul – he is hoping his new Paddock Chrono will be in pole position in watch fans’ minds when it launches next month.

PaceMasters Paddock Chronograph

The Paddock Chronograph is the first timepiece from PaceMasters’ racing-inspired collection. Just like modern Formula 1 cars the PaceMasters Paddock Chronograph is powered by hybrid technology – a Mecha-Quartz Movement sourced from the Seiko Group. The VK67 Mecha-Quartz chronograph has found a place in dozens of microbrand projects, offering a combination of a reliable and accurate quartz-regulated, battery-powered movement for the main hands, and a mechanical chronograph. The stopwatch element ticks with with five beats per second as the hand sweeps around the dial, and has a satisfying instant reset. The dial consists of several layers, including a 0.4mm carbon fibre layer and applied numerals and a pit board decal that forms a frame around the date window.

The Paddock Chrono will be offered in three case colours: Black PVD, Grey matte, and Stainless Steel. The dial will be available in a multicolour racing livery or a more traditional black and white. Amongts the strap choices are an Alcantara strap (the same material used in supercar interiors), a classic leather strap, a racing NATO strap and a silicon band with various inserts – we hope that a carbon fibre effect is also going to be in the offing.

Get Involved

One thing we like about the PaceMasters campaign is how they are engaging with fans and seeking feedback on their design, at their blog you will find stories about the development process and stories of racing and life, together with a number of polls and questionnaires to fine-tune the product design.
