Microbrand Advisor is launching two new watch models this Black Friday 23rd November. Is the Advisor ASCENT interesting enough to dissuade people from spending their money on deals elsewhere?
First Impressions – Advisor ASCENT
The ASCENT Classic is Advisor’s interpretation of the super compressor (SC) design. It is an automatic watch with dual crowns. The crown at 4 o’clock winds the movement and set time. The crown at 2 o’clock rotates the internal dive-timing bezel. As well as the ‘vanilla’ version, there is an ASCENT Skull Limited Edition 300. Its design has a layered dial that exposes its rotating escape wheel through the skull’s mouth.

Advisor ASCENT – First Impressions
We’ve seen a few Supercompressor watches recently. The Dan Henry 1970 comes first to mind, and we think this is one of the watches that the Advisor ASCENT will compete with. The design is bold (the skull will turn a few heads) and the specs are spot on for the low asking price. If you are in the market for a unique-looking automatic watch with great specs and a bargain price, you won’t go far wrong with an Advisor ASCENT.
We raised an eyebrow at the timing of the Advisor campaign: on Black Friday peoples’ spare cash is often destined for the sales, and people are being asked to choose to back a watch that will not be delivered for several months over a watch that will arrive in time for Christmas. But if you can afford it, we think this one looks worth the asking price, so we wish Advisor the best of luck with their launch.
Buy an Advisor ASCENT
The Advisor ASCENT range will start at a very reasonable price of $240 ($270 for the skull) with full retail being $400/$350. We have been promised the loan of a review sample before the end of the Kickstarter campaign so we hope to be able to give a balanced view of the watch while there is still time to jump in at the preorder price. You can preorder an Advisor campaign from 23rd November. Here is the Kickstarter link.
